Neitzke and Maunsell claim Downhill National Series wins

The final round of the Downhill National Series on Sunday the 25th of September saw Anthony Dunne and Cat Brady set the fastest times for the day.

The track was a serious challenge and really tested the riders' abilities. The Glencullen Adventure Park (The GAP) offered a mixture of a technical track and large jumps.  

Dunne completed the season with an impressive time of 1:48.96. Matheus Neitzke was chasing the whole way, coming second, with a time of 1:49.58. With this being the final race of the season, the overall standings for the series were confirmed; Neitzke the overall winner.

His 473-points tally put him 83 ahead of second-place rider Ronan Dunne with 390 points. Anthony Dunne came third overall, with 361 points.

In the women's event, Brady was delighted with her outstanding performance, winning both the women’s senior and junior events on the final day. She completed the race in a time of 2:27.67.

However, Leah Maunsell has taken the women's overall series win with 490 points. Brady came second with 375 points, and Marie Farrell placed third with 303 points.

There were more impressive wins in the junior men’s race. On his home track, Jamie Wall took an impressive win at a time of 1:52.80. Josh Gallagher finished second with 1:54.17, and Max Schone third in 2:00.49.  

In the masters 50-60 event, Scott Barkley took top place on the podium, with Glynn O’Brien taking the win for the Masters 40 category. Barkley finished at a time of 2:18.50 and O’Brien at 1:58.57.

Darragh Ryan’s win in the U-14s category was spectacular, finishing at a time of 1:54.17. The finish placed the youngster 8th in the entire field. Another impressive performance on the track was by Callum Morris in the U16s category. Morris finished in a time of 1:54.15.
