National Track Champs | Team sprint, pursuit and keirin titles settled in Dublin

Black Line and UCD Cycling Club have won the team sprint titles at the National Track Championships on the Sundrive Road velodrome in Dublin.

In the men’s event, decorated sprinters Eoin Mullen and Eamon Byrne combined with cyclist and triathlete Eric Gasparro to claim gold in a time of 46.499.

They beat the Orwell Wheelers trio of Fiona Sheridan, Dmitro Griffin and Callum O’Toole, who took silver with 47.898. East Tyrone CC – Anthony Mairs, Kyle Glasgow and Hames Glasgow - claimed the bronze in a time of 47.918.

In the women’s event, Deirbhle Ivory, Eimer McMullan and Nikki Taggart combined to take the national title for UCD, in a time of 50.628. The silver medal was won by Arcane Cycling Team A – Orla Mary, Shauna Finn and Angela Ferris– in a time of 56.768. The Sundrive A Team - Claire Ní Reachtagáin, Keela MacHale and Susie Mitchell – winning bronze in 56.768.

In the women’s team pursuit, Ní Reachtagáin, MacHale and Mitchell were back in action, with Deborah Madden, to claim gold for UCD in a time of 5.20.836.

Arcane Cycling Team A – Elizabeth Kent, Maria McAllister, Julia Cooper and Shauna Finn – won silver in a time of 5.40.317. The bronze was claimed by Arcane Cycling Team B – Orla Mary, Nicola McLaughlin, Rachel McBride and Róisín Kennedy – in a time of 6.07.49.

In the men’s team pursuit, Sundrive Track Team’s John Caffrey, Mark Stewart, Sean Curtis and Thomas O’Brien won gold in 5.09.717. Less than one second down – in a time of 5.10.608 – Dmitro Griffin, Valdis Andersons, Fiona Sheridan and Daniel McElroy took silver for Orwell Wheelers.

In the men’s Keirin, Eoin Mullen (Black Line) took gold from Harvey Barnes (Spellman-Dublin Port) and Conor Rowley (Blackburn Cycling Team). The women’s keirin was won by Orla Walsh (Nopinz Motip Race Team) from Deirbhle Ivory (UCD Cycling Club) and Eimer McMullan (UCD Cycling Club).
