National Road Series headlines racing action this weekend

With less than a week to go before Rás Tailteann gets underway next Wednesday, there is track and road action this weekend, including the latest round of the Cycling Ireland National Road Series.

Navan Road Club is promoting the Tommy Brady Memorial on Saturday morning in Robinstown, Co Meath, and you can enter by following this link.

The race will be fought out over nine laps of the usual Robinstown circuit and is being run on a handicapped basis. It is open to A1-A2-A3-Juniors-Women, with a total distance of 73kms. Sign-on at Bective GAA is open from 8.30am, with the race rolling out at 10am.

Also on Saturday, the Duane Delaney Track GP takes place on the Sundrive Velodrome in Éamonn Ceannt Park, Crumlin, and you can enter at this link.

The racing is open to track-accredited U16-Junior-Senior-Masters male and female riders.The events being promoted include the flying 200, scratch race, mile, and a 20-lap four-sprint points Race for each category.

Points after each sprint are added to accumulated score with prizes for the top three in each category and top three overall.

On Sunday, the Brian O'Loughlin Memorial is being promoted by Cunga CC in Co Mayo. It is 'Round 3' of the Cycling Ireland National Series and you can enter by following this link.

There are four races, based from Cong Village, with sign-on open from 8.15am at Cong Community Centre. The women's race, from 9am, is three laps of the circuit for a total race distance of 85.5km.

The Men's A1-A2 race - five laps, 142.5km - starts at 10.55am while the men's A3-Junior race - four laps, 114km - starting at 11:05am. There is also a men's A4 race - two laps, 57km - starting at 11.05am. Junior riders with an A3 licence can enter the A1-A2 race.

Also on Sunday, Emyvale Cycling Club is promoting its annual Emyvale GP, wit five races down for decision, all with roll-out within minutes of each other from 10am. Sign-on is at Emyvale GAA Club and you can enter by following this link.

The A2 race and separate A1 race will both with 109.8km, run over 4¾ laps of the circuit. The A3 race will be 87.1km, or 3¾ laps, while the A4 race is 2¾ laps, or 63.9km. There is also a separate women's race, 2¾ laps or 63.9km.

Carlow Youth Races also take place on Sunday and you can enter those events by following this link. Race HQ is at MSD Carlow, Dublin Rd, Oakpark, Co Carlow, with the races to be held on the 8km Palatine Long Mile Avenue circuit.

The U12s will race for one lap (8km), the U14s for three (24km), the U16 girls for five laps (40km) and the U16 boys compete over seven laps (56km).
