After the excitement of last weekend - especially the great racing at the Shay Elliott promotion - road race action will unfold next weekend in Meath, Limerick Down and Carlow.

The National Criterium Championships, in Limerick, are the headline events but there is plenty of racing down for decision elsewhere.

However, before we get into the action for next weekend - Saturday and Sunday, May 17th and 18th - there are two main fixtures on midweek this week.

Tomorrow - Tuesday, May 13th - the Appleby Orwell Women’s Beginner League 2025 is on again at Corkagh Park, Dublin. You can get more information and enter by following this link.

On Thursday evening in Antrim Round 1 of the Ernie Magwood Super Six 2025 will be held, by Island Wheelers. The 10m TT starts at 7pm from Crankill Rd, Glarryford, Ballymena. You can get more information and enter by following this link.

The National Criterium Championships are being run by Greenmount Cycling Academy in Limerick City, on a 1km course at King's Island - and you'll get a map of the course and facilities at this link.

The elite women's race starts at 6.30pm and the men's race starts at 7.30pm - both national title races. Juniors of masters riders can enter 'elite' races if they wish.

There are also support races, which are not for Irish titles, for all other categories (starting at 2.10pm) from U12 up to Masters. You'll get the times for all of them here.

This is a fantastic National Criterium Championships course and it's great to see criterium racing in Ireland being run in the centre of a city on closed roads.

Greenmount Cycling Academy has done a huge amount of develop cycling in Limerick over a long period so please get out and support them; by racing or spectating on the day, especially as this is a day-long programme of racing.
