Nathan Keown, the Irish international who led the Junior Tour of Ireland last month, has put in a very strong ride in Wales today.

The North Down CC rider is competing in the Junior Tour of Wales for the Cycling Ulster selection; making the top 10 today when the racing split to pieces.

On
today’s 110km hilly stage from Abergavenny to Rhigos Mountain a five-man
breakaway got clear.

It was
whittled down to four during the day and while they had a gap of one minute
with about 30km remaining, the gaps got a lot bigger before the finish.

Thomas Gloag (VC Londres) won the stage by
11 seconds from Drew Christensen (Cycling New Zealand).

George Mills-Keeling (Cycle Club
Bridgnorth) and Lewis Askey (Backstedt Cycling) were 3rd and 4th in the same
time.

clear and Keown was among them; finishing in 10th place at 3:29, with very
significant gaps behind him through the field.

The next Irish riders home were Finely
Newmark (VC Londres) and Archie Ryan (Vitus-Chill-NRPT); in 18th and 29th.
