Conor Murnane shrugged off a dodgy moment in the final sprint for the finish line at Rás Mumhan today when the rider who was challenging him closest crashed hard.
Murnane and the rider who crashed - we think Llewellyn Kinch from (TAAP Cervelo) - were a few lengths ahead of the rest of the front group when he came together, bumping shoulders, which happens in sprinting.
However, while Murnane (UCD Cycling Club) managed to hold his position and stay upright, Kinch had no such luck. He crashed to the tarmac at high speed, though he did get back up and refinish the stage. He was credited with the same time as the winner, at the back of the leading 26-rider group.
Just behind the incident, young Niall McLoughlin of the Irish Junior Team proved best of the rest; the 17-year-old really shining by taking 2nd place into Sneem today at the end of such a hard stage.
Lots more to come.
