Murphy takes gold ahead of tight silver-bronze fight at Junior Champs

Conor Murphy (Caldwell Cycles) has retained the Irish junior title at the National Cyclocross Championships in Co Galway today with a commanding performance in Ballinsloe.

Murphy got ahead early and spent most of the race out front alone, being chased hard by Curtis McKee (Spellman Dublin Port) and Ryan Daly (Scott Racing IRL).

While Daly and McKee - two of the finds of the domestic season - duked it out for silver and bronze, Murphy was on a relentless journey to gold, which he claimed by some distance.

Behind him, McKee got ahead of Daly to settle the race-long silver-bronze battle.
