
Kelly Murphy has continued her run of strong results in top tier international track racing with 7th place in the individual pursuit at the European Track Championships in Grenchen, Switzerland. Murphy was one of two Irish riders in the 3km race against clock, with Erin Creighton (18) also stepping onto the boards for the first time at senior level for Ireland.
Mia Griffin was today in action in the points race, taking a top 10 in that event, while Orla Walsh raced the 500m TT and JB Murphy was in action in the omnium, winning the temp race.
In the individual pursuit, Murphy clocked a time of 3:28.632 in qualifying, placing 7th. Creighton placed 14th in a time of 3:41.185. The teenager was brought into the endurance line-up for these Europeans as a replacement for injured Emily Kay after impressing at the junior Worlds last year with 4th in the elimination race.

The individual pursuit at the Europeans today was won by Franziska Brausse (Germany) from Josie Knight (Great Britain), with Mieke Kroger (Germany) beating Anna Morris (Great Britain) in the bronze medal ride-off for the final step on the podium.
In the points race, Mia Griffin was 2nd in the first sprint, taking three points, before placing 5th in the second sprint for one point. She placed 9th - of 17 riders - in the final result. The European title race was won by Anita Stenberg (Norway) from Shari Bossuyt (Belgium), a rapidly emerging road pro with Canyon-SRAM. Marie Le Net (France), who rides for the FDJ-Suez team, won bronze.
Ireland's Orla Walsh was in action this morning in the 500m TT, recording a time of 35.032 in qualifying. She placed 17th of the 21-rider field, with only the top eight qualifying for the final.
Walsh will be in action again tomorrow in the keirin, with Conor Rowley riding for Ireland in the men's event. Alice Sharpe and Mia Griffin will team up to ride the Madison tomorrow.
