Mulhearne (16) takes second elite win since stepping up to senior racing

Hugh Óg Mulhearne may have his sights set on racing in France with a new junior team next year but the 16-year-old is clearly intent on getting wins on the board even before the 2025 road season starts.

He took his second victory of the Munster Cyclocross Series yesterday in Cork, where he was best of the elite men's field having also won the first round of the series in Fermoy in September.

The Verge Sport PI Cycles rider was out on his own yesterday at the Cork Showgrounds in the De Ronde van Cork, winning by 50 seconds after eight laps of racing.

Taking 2nd place was Junior Tour of Ireland stage winner Michael Collins (Newcastle West CC), who is now an U23 rider.

And rounding out the podium on the day was top 'cross rider, and eracing international, Richard Barry (St Finbarr's CC), who was 1:04 down on the winner after 50 minutes of racing.

In the women's race, Ami Flavin (Dungarvan CC) took the honours, after six laps of racing, after a strong performance. She was 49 seconds up on Sally Drennan (Midleton CRC).

Andrea Lyons (Dungarvan CC) took the final place on the podium a further 43 seconds back.
