In the build-up to the Dublin round of the UCI Cyclocross World Cup on Sunday week most of the focus has been on the biggest male stars, with both Wout van Aert (Jumbo Visma) and Tom Pidcock (Ineos Grenadiers) set to face-off in the Irish capital.

However, the women's race in Dublin is arguably more star-studded, with many of the hottest properties in cycling now confirmed to compete. Chief amongst them is France's Pauline Ferrand Prevot, the first woman to sign with Ineos Grenadiers.

The former elite world road race champion currently holds four world titles; three in MTB - cross-country, short track and marathon - while also picking up the gravel Worlds gold medal in October.

World Cup leader Fem Van Empel of the Netherlands, who won gold at the Cyclocross European Championships last month, will also be on the start line at the Sport Ireland Campus in Dublin. Having recently signed for Jumbo Visa, the 20-year-old will be chasing her fifth World Cup win of the season.

Puck Pieterse, another Dutch 20-year-old, won the U23 title at the recent Europeans. She has also claimed victory in the last two World Cup rounds; in Hulst and Overijse where she beat Van Empel into 2nd place in both races. The fact the Alpecin-Deceuninck rider will race in Dublin sets up a great battle between the World Cup's two form riders so far this season.

Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado, who is in 3rd in the series so far, was elite cyclocross world champion three years ago and will also race in Dublin. Riding for Alpecin-Deceuninck, the 24-year-old from the Netherlands already has two Telenet Superprestige victories in the bag this season. She will be looking for her first World Cup win of the current campaign in Ireland later this month.
