Eimear Moran has take victory in the sodden latest round of the Joe Daly’s National Women’s League.
The Sundrive Track Team rider rode away from the opposition on the criterium course in Clonmel on Sunday night to take a solo win in the rain.
The conditions saw the race being cut short, from 45 minutes and three laps to 25 minutes and five laps.
Vey early in the contest the small field split, with a five-rider group pulling clear and staying away until the end if the contest.
In that leading group were Grace Young (De Ronde van Cork), Catherine McAteer (Richies Garda CC), Susie Mitchell (Sundrive Track Team), Aideen Keenan (DID Racing) and Eimear Moran (Sundrive Track Team).
While McAteer was caught from behind by Monica Marconi of Orwell Wheelers Máire Claffey of UCD CC, the top five came from the early breakaway.
As the last three laps ticked down to the finish, Moran simply rode away from the others to take a very comfortable win from team mate Mitchell and Young.
