Moore storms TT but Halvey seizes Rás Dhun na nGall yellow

Having taken a clean sweep of the podium in last evening's opening stage at Rás Dhun na nGall, the NRPT-Titan Containers team was beaten to TT victory this morning.
Calvin Moore of Caldwell Cycles Omagh stormed home to win the 2.43 mile test in a time of 8:17.05.
That was 3 seconds faster than Dillon Corkery and 4 seconds quicker than his NRPT-Titan team mate Conor Halvey.
And because Halvey was in the front three on the stage yesterday that put time into everyone else, he takes the yellow jersey.
On that opening stage, winner Eoghan McLaughlin, Halvey and Alexis Roche pulled two seconds out of the rest of the six-man escape.
In that second trio across the line came Ethan Downey (Island Wheelers), Sean Murnane (Cycling Leinster) and Michael McGlynn (Belgium Project-Cycling Ulster).
The peloton would lose a total of 36 seconds.
Most of those breakaway men faired very well into today's test; Downey 4th at 4.79secs, yellow jersey McLaughlin 5th at 5.7secs and Roche 6th in the TT at 6.45secs.
It means Halvey now leads team mates McLaughlin and Roche by 1 and 2 seconds respectively.
And loitering with intent is Downey in 4th place on the same time as Roche.
The riders tackle an afternoon road stage today and the final stage tomorrow up the fearsome Glengesh Pass.
