You know the Irish road racing season is well underway when the Mondello Series starts.
The popular series is promoted by Irish Road Club on the Co Kildare motor racing track.
It has effectively replaced the old Phoenix Park races; providing midweek action for riders from the Leinster area.
It offers a great speed session for riders of all categories and the closed circuit is ideal for what you might call 'Ireland's answer to kermesse racing'.
Last night in the opening round of the 2019 series, the groups came together.

A very strong quartet got off the front; Mark Dowling among them and winning the race.
Ronan Killeen of Lucan CRC was 2nd and Cian Keogh of Ciclotel Travel fueled by YPB rounded out the podium.
