Michael O’Loughlin has been crowned Irish U23 TT champion again and Kevin McCambridge has won the junior crown at the National Championships this evening in Co Donegal.
In the U23 race O’Loughlin beat his Team Wiggins team
mate, and first-year U23 rider, Ben Healy; last year’s junior champion taking
the silver medal this evening.
And coming through for a fantastic bronze medal in what was arguably the most competitive field of the TT title races tonight was Luke Smith of Bio-DHL-FRS.
For the 41.48km U23 race, O'Loughlin's time was 52:05.
That put him 1:15 ahead of team mate Healy and 1:33 up on Smith.
In the junior race McCambridge took the gold in the colours of Vitus-Chill-NRPT; continuing what has been a fantastic season for him so far.
In the silver medal position this evening was Archie Ryan (Zappi Racing); both winner and runner-up proving to be very promising talents for the future.
Another young rider who has also put a marker down several times in Europe this year, Finley Newmark of VC Londres, took the bronze medal.
MCambridge clocked a time of 27:41, some 27 seconds up on Ryan and 1:12 up on Newmark.
More to come.
