Mia Griffin has completed her recovery from the crash that set back her season, taking her first international result with Israel Premier Tech Roland since coming off in Paris-Roubaix Femmes.
While the Kilkenny woman has won two stages of Rás na mBan and also won the National Criterium Championships since making her return to action, she has only ridden three one-day races abroad since returning to action in August after her four months out of action.
She has just finished Tour of Chongming Island (2.WWT) in China, placing 8th on the opening stage on Thursday. The 108.9km stage, starting and finishing in Chongming New City Park, ended in a bunch gallop.
It was won by Mylène de Zoete (CERATIZIT-WNT Pro Cycling) from Georgia Baker (Team Jayco AlUla) and Daria Pikulik (Human Powered Health), with Griffin 8th and team mate and compatriot Alice Sharpe placing 12th.
Friday's stage 2 - some 128.6km into Chongming New City Park - was won by Hanna Tserakh (Li Ning Star Ladies) from Martina Fidanza (CERATIZIT-WNT Pro Cycling) and Chiara Consonni (UAE Team ADQ). Sharpe and Griffin finishing in the bunch; placing 37th and 57th respectively.
Today's final stage - 112.3km into Chongming New City Park - was won by UAE Team ADQ's Consonni, who also took the race overall due to time bonuses. Sharpe was 56th today and Griffin 61st, with the duo placing 39th and 46th in the final general classification.
It’s a super tight finish on the opening day of #TOCI2023 with Daria sprinting to second place and her second #UCIWWT podium of the year ?
