Mia Griffin (Roland) has taken another podium finish, her second of the season, in El Salvador where she is taking in a series of stage races and one-day events with her World Tour team.
The Kilkenny woman, who started her season with 4th in a stage at UAE Tour in February, lined out in the one-day Grand Prix El Salvador, a UCI 1.1-ranked event, and when the honours came down to a sprint finish she was at the pointy end.
This time around, however, victory went to Italian Laura Tomasi (Laboral Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi), who Griffin had relegated to 2nd place when the Irish woman won stage 2 at Tour El Salvador (2.1).
Sara Fiorin (CERATIZIT Pro Cycling Team), who a stage at Tour El Salvador, was 2nd to Tomasi, with Griffin taking 3rd place.
The Irish rider sat out yesterday's Grand Prix Presidente (1.1), a 47km uphill course from start to finish which would not have suited Griffin. However, the Irish rider will conclude her racing stint in El Salvador later today when she takes on the 109km Grand Prix Surf City (1.1).
A first pro win for Laura Tomasi of @LABORALkTeam!
