Cormac Meegan (All human-VeloRevolution) has won the main event at the Shanahans Family Foods Raceday in Limerick after emerging at the front of the race when it split in the closing stages.
Meegan had too much in the tank in the final sprint to the line in the combined C1-C2-C3-Women's race, which was run on a handicapped basis, with the scratch riders catching the limit ground around 15 minutes into 40-minute + three-lap contest.
Sam Moloney (Burren CC) and Brendan Reen (Sliabh Luachra CC) both took off with solo efforts, though they were recaptured by the chasers and the race was settled in a sprint from a small front group.
Meegan got the verdict from Brendan Reen (Sliabh Luachra CC) and Jared Tritschler of promting club Greenmount CA.
The Masters race - for C2 and C3 Masters riders - saw the event come down to a seven-man sprint for victory with Mike Storan (West Clare CC) claiming the win from Keith Walsh (Greenmount CA) and Sean Conroy (Greenmount CA).
