Matt Teggart and Tom Pidcock were on the final podium for Team Wiggins after five days of racing in France.
Matt Teggart and Michael O’Loughlin have rounded off a successful Tour Alsace (2.2) in which their Team Wiggins squad proved one of the best.
Teggart won the intermediate sprints classification while O’Loughlin was 2nd in the mountains competition.
Their team mate Tom Pidcock won the combativity classification and another Team Wiggins rider, Mark Donovan, was 7th overall.
Both Irish riders went on the attack; Teggart taking 2nd place on stage 1 from a breakaway. O’Loughlin went up the road the following day.
His aggression saw him take custody of three jerseys; the sprints, mountains and most aggressive rider.
And while he would relinquish them, he can be happy with a very strong showing in a tough international race.
O’Loughlin has had a difficult season, having been dogged by illness and injury for many months.
However, he returned to racing in June on the home scene. And he would retain his Irish U23 TT crown and take bronze in the road race.
After going up the road on last Thursday’s and Friday’s stages in France, the Irish riders then faced into hillier terrain.
Saturday’s 165.3km took the riders from Ribeauvillé to Station du Lac Blac.
The stage was won solo by Marc Hirschi, the 19-year-old Swiss rider competing with Development Team Sunweb.
Teggart was 43rd at 13:08 and O’Loughlin 111th at 35:51. Their team leader Mark Donovan was 9th at 1:04.
The final stage yesterday from Riedisheim to Dannemarie was 145.6km.
It was won by Gino Mader of the Swiss national team, with Geoffrey Bouchard winning the race overall.
The 26-year-old overall victor was riding for Cr4C Roanne. But he has signed for WorldTour team AG2R-La Mondiale for the remainder of the year.
Teggart was 26th on the final stage and O’Loughlin 67th, both in a group some 1:11 down and they were 35th and 93rd overall respectively.
