Not content to be upstaged by today's stage victory at the Tour of Britain of fellow World Championship-bound Irish rider Sam Bennett, national champion Matt Brammeier bagged his first win of 2013 on foreign soil in Belgium today.
The Champion System rider, whose last win was his national title back in June, took victory in the GP Dokter Eugeen Roggeman, a pro kermesse in Stekene, Belgium.
Brammeier and Bennett were both confirmed just yesterday as being on the Irish team for the men's road race at the World Championships in Florence on Sunday week and have celebrated that news in great style today.
Stephen Halpin and Mark Dowling of the Polygon Sweet Nice team were also in action in the same race as Brammeier today, coming home in 21st and 51st place respectively as they get in a good hard racing spell in Belgium.
We'll hopefully have a yap with Brammeier in a bit and bring you an extended piece a little later.
