Wout van Aert (Jumbo Visma) may already be a confirmed starter at the Dublin round of the UCI Cyclocross World Cup next month, but his Dutch rival Mathieu van der Poel will not be alongside him.

The Alpecin-Deceuninck rider has set out his schedule for his upcoming cyclocross season, having just resumed training on his cyclocross bike. And while he plans to get stuck into some major fixtures immediately, Dublin is not in his plans.

The 27-year-old, former cyclocross world champion, has decided to take a break from his 'cross racing next month in favour of a team training camp in Spain, which clashes with the Dublin World Cup. That means we will have to wait to see Van der Poel competing on Irish soil.

According to his schedule, released this afternoon, Van der Poel will ride the Hulst World Cup this Sunday before riding two races the following weekend; Superprestige in Boom and the World Cup in Antwerp.

He will then put the cyclocross bike away for a couple of weeks and take in a team training camp in Spain, from December 5th to 14th, with the Dublin World Cup taking place on December 11th.

Frustratingly for Irish fans who wanted to see him in Dublin, once Van der Poel's training camp is completed he will once again throw himself into cyclocross action

He resumes racing at the Val di Sole round of the World Cup on December 17th, continuing his season until the World Championships in Hoogerheide, the Netherlands, on February 5th. However, he will have a break in that racing schedule for a second team training camp in Spain from January 9th to 19th.
