Having acted as road captain to young riders on the Irish Development Team at Kerry Group Rás Mumhan and the Tour of Ulster, Martyn Irvine has taken a number of wins in one-day races in recent weeks and added another today in the shape of the Shay Elliott Memorial.
The Madison Genesis man, who is a former World Champion on the track and has been a medalist three times at the Worlds, pulled out a gap of over five minutes on his own.
In the end he took a comfortable victory despite the efforts of a chasing group behind him.
