Fresh from breaking the National 50 Mile Time Trial record last Sunday by over five minutes in the Ulster 50 Mile TT Championships, comeback man Marcus Christie has put in another fantastic performance against the clock, this time clocking 18:37 in a 10 mile effort.
Christie, who took the bronze medal in the U23 National TT Championships in Carlingford in Co Louth last month, clocked the impressive time in the 'Ernie Magwood Super 6' at Woodgreen on Thursday night.
The man whose 50 mile national record he broke last week - subject to ratification by Cycling Ireland - John Heverin was second quickest on Thursday in a time of 19:26.
The ride puts Christie in a very small and illustrious group of Irish riders to go below 19 minutes and his form will certainly put him will into the mix for selection for next year's Commonwealth Games. The manager of that team, Ryan Connor is one of the riders to have gone under 19 minutes for a 10 against the watch.

Christie returned last year after a few seasons away from the sport because of a debilitating Achilles tendon injury. But he has been working with former Rás winner turned coach Tommy Evans of late, with that partnership and Christie's engine rapidly becoming a very impressive combination.
