Marcin Bialoblocki has smashed his own British competition record for the 25 mile TT distance. He took over a minute off his old time. His average speed today for the 25 mile TT was above 56km per hour. He is currently chasing a new contract and his pro career may end if he doesn't get one soon. Former Rás winner Marcin Bialoblocki has recorded a time of 43:00 for a 25 mile TT in the UK.
To put that into perspective, the Irish record of David McCann's posted in 2008 is 47:06, according to Cycling Ireland's records.
McCann did a 45:54 the following year in the UK. Chris Boardman's fastest ever 25 mile TT time was three seconds slower than that time by David McCann.
Boardman set a British competition record of 45.57 before McCann broke it.
Today UK-based Polish rider Bialoblocki said he has no contract for next year. So he wanted to go out and do a really fast time in what could be his final ever competitive TT.
The 33-year-old has been riding for ProContinental team CCC Sprandi Polkowice this year after two years at One ProCycling.
Last September he broke the British competition records for both the 10 and 25 mile TT distances over the same weekend.
In the SSLL Racing Team 10-mile TT on Saturday, September 10th, in Yorkshire, he set a time of 16mins 35secs.
That took 45 seconds off the record of Alex Dowsett (Movistar).
And the following day Bialoblocki rode the Port Talbot Wheelers 25 Mile TT in south Wales and recorded a time of 44mins 4secs.
This time around at the RealTeam Open 25 in South Wales he clocked 43:00. In doing so he averaged more than 56km per hour.
