Marc Heaney, Conn McDunphy, Dermot Trulock in Belgium

Marc Heaney has put in a solid shift in a tough pro kermesse in Belgium in trying conditions

Now riding in that country for Asfra Racing Team, Heaney was 20th in the Wanzeel-Koerse in East Flanders yesterday.

In the U23 Irish international set-up this year, Heaney was part of the 99-man peloton that finished 23 seconds down on Cees Col of SEG Racing.

Jelle Mannaerts (Tarteletto-Isorex) took the sprint in wet conditions for 2nd place. Enzo Wouters (Lotto Soudal) rounded out the podium.

As well as Heaney in 20th place, Dubliners Conn McDunphy and Dermot Trulock were also in action.

Both and now riding for the UK Continental team Holdsworth Pro Cycling.

And like Heaney, they also finished in the peloton yesterday; Trulock in 87th and McDunphy in 93rd.

Marc Heaney is this year continuing his international cycling tenure having cut his teeth at home first with Carn Wheelers and Nicolas Roche PT.

Conn McDunphy and Dermot Trulock rode for Lucan CRC last year; McDunphy also spending part of the 2017 campaign with Raleigh GAC in the UK.
