Richard Maes wins at Munster Cyclocross League

Richard Maes has taken the opening round of the Munster Cyclocross League. The Killarney CC rider spent most of the race leading and sustained it all the way to the finish.

Just behind him, Worc’s Niall Somers and Richard Barry of St Finbarr’s battled it out for the remaining places on the podium.

Somers eventually came through to take 2nd place about 20 seconds behind winner Maes. And Barry claimed 3rd place.

Lisa Stapelbroek (Kenmare CC), who enjoyed an excellent ‘cross season last year, showed she is in great off-road form again this year.

She won the women’s race from Nessa Rochford (De Ronde Van Cork) and Lucy O'Donnell (Kanturk).
