Luke Smith (Moynalty CC) has taken the latest win of his 2023 season, proving best at the end of a shortened Tommie Brady Memorial in Co Meath this evening in torrential rain.
Indeed, conditions were so bad the course underwent an inspection before the race and it was decided to shorten the event to six laps, for a total race distance of 48km, instead of the usual 64km.
Smith (24) - who has already won the Kells Criterium and Boyne GP this year - was best in the group sprint that decided the victory; getting the verdict ahead of Sean Landers of UCD Cycling Club.
Completing the podium was impressive young up-and-comer Max Fitzgerald; the U16 rider with Dungarvan CC showing he already has the goods to compete at the front with the A1s.
More to come.
