Luke Smith (Moynalty CC) has taken victory in the Madigan GP today. In a sprint from a breakaway, form rider Smith got the better of Chris McGlinchey (Spectra Wiggle p/b Vitus).
The breakaway group emerged after the first lap of the 29km circuit, staying together until the third and final lap.

Approaching the base of the climb, a large chasing group almost caught the leaders, though attacks up front ensured a winning gap was maintained. With 250 meters to go, Mark Dowling (All human velo revolution) led out the sprint, followed closely by Smith and McGlinchey.
And in the final push to the line it was Smith who took it from McGlinchey, with Dowling in 3rd.
