Lucy Bénézet Minns has made her debut for Ireland at an elite Worlds, with the 18-year-old junior competing in the individual pursuit at the UCI World Track Championships in Copenhagen.
The teenager, who won points race at the junior European Track Championships this year, was in action in the individual pursuit today, the only event she is riding at this Worlds.
She clocked a time of 3:36.612 for the 3km distance, some 20.949 off the fastest time, that of Chloe Dygert, the American who claimed bronze in the TT and gold in the team pursuit. She was also the individual pursuit world record holder starting qualifying and her time was a new world marker.
Today Dygert beat Great Britain's Anna Morris by 1.993 seconds in qualifying with the 3rd place rider - Bryony Botha of New Zealand - some 3.783 seconds back. Germany's Franziska Brausse was 4th at 6.288 seconds.
