Having the season of his career so far, Lindsay Watson has claimed another victory on the road.

The Powerhouse Sport man, who was 9th at the nationals last weekend, was best at the end of the JG Memorial.

Watson, who has been flying since the start of the campaign, finished alongside team mate Adam Ward.

And it was the top A1 rider who took victory from the new national junior road race champion Ward.

They were well out on their own after the field had split to pieces in Cranford. The form men, they took their time with their double celebration in he North Donegal CC-promoted race.

Next home was Donal Shearer of Phoenix CC, finishing alone to round out the podium. His club mate Edward Kearney was 4th, also crossing the line on his own.

And not long after the two men from the Belfast club completed their efforts, Ronan McLaughlin claimed 5th.

The Viner-Caremark-Pactimo man sprinted in ahead of Breandan Flannagan; edging out the Powerhouse Sport junior in a two-up sprint.

A key move went very early in the race, with Watson present and young team mate Flannagan also there.

They rode with four other riders to establish a healthy gap by the time they were 20km into the 40km circuit.

Also in the move were Shearer, Kearney and Mitchell McLaughlin of Four Masters CC. Ward would then come across to the move with Ronan McLaughlin.

Shearer leads the way in the winning move before he was worked over expertly by the Powerhouse Sport men.

With three riders now in the lead group Powerhouse Sport wasted no time in imposing themselves.

No sooner were McLaughlin and Ward onto the group than Watson attacked hard and took Flannagan with them.

However, their effort was closed down quickly. But soon after they were caught Watson went again; with Ward and Shearer for company.

And that attack proved to be the winning of the race. The trio rode through for the next 30km to pull out a gap on the chasers.

Despite being clear with two team mates in such strong form, Shearer attacked them about halfway around the second lap.

He would get clear but Ward and Watson combined to reel him in again. Just as the catch was made, on the crest of a climb, Ward counter attacked and pulled away on his own.

Watson allowed the gap to grow before attacking Shearer and riding across to Ward, with the duo riding to the finish for a 1-2.
