Lee Harvey (Spellman Dublin Sport) and Stephanie Roche (Scott Bright Motors) emerged the winners of the men's and women's races at the Ride for Raymie cyclocross promoted at CyclocrossNI in Portadown. The event, organised by East Antrim CC was a fundraiser for Northern Ireland Air Ambulance Service, who airlifted club member Raymond Beers when he was severely injured in a cycling crash early last year.

In the men's race yesterday, U16 riders Conor Murphy (Rostrevor MTB) and Curtis McKee (Scott Bright Motor Group) gave a very good account of themselves at the front of the elite men's event. While young Murphy - racing in the national champion's livery he secured a week earlier - matched Harvey through the race only to be distanced on the final lap.

In the end, Harvey claimed the victory, after five laps of racing, by 28 seconds from Murphy, with McKee in 3rd place at 3:12. Aaron Parks (Banbridge CC) was 4th, at 3:54. Graham Boyd (McConvey Cycles) placed 5th, at 4:30, with Barry Convery (Newry Wheelers) rounding out the top 6, at 5:18.

In the women's race, Roche was best in a small field, winning the four-lap event from Wendy McKeegan (Unattached) and Elena Wallace (Harps CC). The U16 girls race was won by another newly minted national champion, Aliyah Rafferty (Island Wheelers), from Rhiannon Dolan (Cuchulainn CC) and Cara Suckling (VC Glendale). The U16 boys victory was claimed by Elliott McKeegan (Team Madigan CC) from Karl Rockett (AHC Racing).
