Philip Lavery (NODE4 Giordana) has rounded off the six-day Tour de Beauce in Canada with a strong showing on the final stage when he sprinted in to take eight place in Ville de St-Georges yesterday, Sunday.
The Dubliner appears to have come out of the race with good legs ahead of the National Road Race Championships in Clonmel this coming weekend.
With two riders having already gotten clear to fight out the final stage honours yesterday, Lavery positioned himself well in the bunch in the sprint for third, coming over the line in sixth to take eight on the stage.
He was just one place behind the overall winner of the UCI 2.2 race, Rory Sutherland (Unitedhealthcare).

Lavery rounded out the race in 32nd place overall; 8:08 behind the yellow jersey. He has enjoyed a strong block of hard racing in recent weeks, with the Tour de Beauce coming just after the An Post Ras.
The Node4-Giordana man rode a very aggressive race at the National Championships in Monaghan last year, when he took 7th in the elite event and collected the silver medal in the U23 category.

He will be looking for another good ride in Clonmel next Sunday, having already bagged a string of wins on home roads this season and enjoyed a strong Ras, during which he held the U23 classification leader’s jersey and was very active in the breakaways on a number of stages.
