Just 24 hours after taking her first ever victory in a UCI-ranked pro road race, Lara Gillespie (UAE Development) has done it again, and in very different fashion.

Celebrating her 23rd birthday today, Gillespie showed no signs of fatigue from her near 80km breakaway ride yesterday and made no mistake when she got a look at the finish line in Barletta after 122.3km of racing.

She was best in a group sprint to the line today, adding her victory to her win yesterday and her 2nd place finish on Friday on the opening stage of the race.

As well as extending her lead in the general classification - after taking the leader's jersey yesterday when she won by over three minutes - Gillespie also leads the points classification with two stages remaining.

More to come.
