Tadhg and Doireann Killeen - both riding for Kilcullen Cycling Club Murphy Geospacial - have taken strong wins the elite men's and women's races at the Leinster Cyclocross Championships.
The Killeen siblings - who represented Ireland at the recent UCI Cyclocross World Cup in Dublin - hit the front early in their respective races at the McCrystal Track in Jenkinstown, Co Louth.
Once clear, they continued to open their advantages on the rivals and ended their races as comfortable winners.
In the men's race, over seven laps, Tadhg Killeen opened a gap of just over 10 seconds on his nearest challenger on the day, his team mate JB Murphy, the former track international with Worlds and Europeans medals in his palmares.
Behind the two Kilcullen riders, Sean Nolan of Navan Road Club was giving a good account of himself as he rode to an eventual bronze medal.
Once Killeen got ahead, his consistency around the track was notable; the only rider to break the seven-minute mark and doing so every lap except the final one, when he eased back a little to enjoy his win.
He had 2:15 over Murphy on the line, with Nolan just 29 further seconds back in 3rd. Sean Lundy (UCD Cycling Club) was 4th, at 3:08, with Ian O'Connell (Team Worc) rounding out the top five at 6:13.
In the women's race - a combined event for all categories - Doireann Killeen pulled clear of eventual runner-up Jenny McCauley (Bray Wheelers) on the opening lap, of five. Once she was out front with a decent advantage, Killeen set about extending that all the way to the line.
At the finish, she had 2:31 on McCauley; an OIympian who has recently returned to competition, including winning the support race at the World Cup last weekend. McCauley won the Masters Leinster title yesterday with her 2nd place while Fiona Lally (EPIC MTB) claimed senior silver after crossing the line 3rd at 5:19.
Oliver O'Shaughnessy (Bellurgan Wheelers) won the junior men's race from Callum McCaffrey (SAXUN - EXTRUSAX- PRIMOTI) and Jamie Byrne (Carlow RCC).
Ronan O'Flynn (Orwell Wheelers) won the Masters 40 raqce from Brian Melia (Team Worc) and Kevin Keane (St Tiernan's). Another Olympian in action yesterday, Robin Seymour (Team Worc) won the Masters 50 title from Colm McGarvey (EPIC MTB) and PJ Hynes (Bellurgan Wheelers).
Rian McCrystal (Bear Cycling) claimed the U16 boys title from Eoin Davis (Bohermeen CC) and Conor Regan (Kilcullen Cycling Club Murphy Geospacial). Katie Turner (Orwell Wheelers) won the U16 girls title from Naoise Byrne (TC Racing).
In the U14 boys race, James Cunningham (Team Worc) was best from Tomás Connolly (Orwell Wheelers) and Noah Byrne (Carlow RCC). Lilly McDermott (TC Racing) won the U14 girls title from Laoise Crinion (IMBRC) and Ciara O'Connor (Drogheda Wheelers).
