Irish TT champion Kelly Murphy has demonstrated some very strong form ahead of trying to defend her national title later this month.
At the weekend Murphy won the RTTC National Circuit Championships in Britain. In the process she also sealed overall victory in the six-round Sigma Sports Classic Series.
The circuit championships – a TT on a circuit rather than
an out and back course – is open to riders of all nationalities.
It is the national TT body’s championship rather than a
British Cycling title race. The British TT championships are a completely
different event.
Murphy, an Irish road and track international, was fastest over the 19.5 miles course to win the title.
She clocked a time of 46:26 on the course in Wiltshire, England, in an average speed of 25.197 Mph.
The Storey Racing rider was 1:30 faster than runner-up
Megan Dickerson (Bristol South CC), with Helen McKay (Les Filles Racing Team)
3rd another 1:13 back.
In the Sigma Series, Kelly Murphy ran out the winner with 236 points.
Fiona Burnie (GS Metro) was 2nd on 228 points, with Karen Taylor (Team Sportslab), who scored 209 points, in 3rd place.
Murphy now turns her attentions to the nationals in Derry and is also aiming for selection onto the Irish team for the Europeans and Worlds.
