The Junior Tour of Ireland organisers had already confirmed in recent
weeks the race will be back on the roads this year and now they have also
unveiled their title sponsor. The stage race will again be backed by the
Eurocycles Eurobaby chain of stores.

While the company’s return to financially support Ireland’s premier
junior race perhaps comes as no surprise, it is still a big relief considering
the difficulties Rás Tailteann and Rás na mBan has had in recent years securing
a title sponsor.

After a break of two years due to Covid-19, the Junior Tour will unfold
on the roads of Co Clare between July 12th and 17th, with
riders from home and abroad gathering to do battle.

Aidan Joyce of Eurocycles Eurobaby said the company was proud to be the
title sponsor of the race once again this year and was looking forward to
seeing the young riders back in action again.

“Cycling is in the DNA of our company and it is great to be a part of
such an important event on the racing calendar,” he said, adding race director Alice
Sherratt should be credited for her contribution down the years.

“Alice and her team of volunteers continue to make this a cracking event
and Eurocycles Eurobaby are delighted to support them once again.”

The event has been run since 1978 and many of the riders who have
excelled on Irish roads have gone on to much bigger things in the pro peloton.
Martin Earley won the first edition way back in 1978 and went on to have a
brilliant pro career that included stage wins in the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia.

Ireland’s Eddie Dunbar is also a former winner, having taken the final
yellow jersey in both 2013 and 2014. He is now competing with Ineos Grenadiers.

Before him Nicolas Roche – who won stages in the Vuelta and led that
race twice – and Sam Bennett – a double Tour stage winner and green jersey
victor – won the event in 2002 and 2008 respectively.
