Josh Tarling, many people's tip for a big performance at Paris-Roubaix today, has seen his race end with a disqualification after a very sticky bottle from his team car.
The Ineos Grenadiers rider suffered a mechanical, and had to wait for a long time for service, with just over 140km remaining in the race.
When he finally got going again, the TV images from the helicopter broadcast an image of a car zooming up to a group ahead, with a rider clearly at the side of the vehicle and going at the same speed.
He managed to get back to the group of main favourites, who were one minute down on the breakaway at the time, though the British rider's time in that group was short-lived.
The sticky bottle incident, with 139km to go, was clearly seen by the commissaires and a few kilometres later the British rider, still just 19-years-old, was informed by the commissaire his race was over.
Tarling, the European TT champion in his first season in the pros last year, had been chasing a result today in a race that should really suit him his talents.
This is how Josh Tarling got himself DSQed today - too much sticky action at speed to get back in after a puncture
