Phoenix CC's Rogan pounces for John Moore Memorial win

John Moore Memorial won by Padraig Rogan Phoenix CC

 

Padraig Rogan has taken victory in the John Moore Memorial main event. The Phoenix CC man was best from an eight-man escape.

He got the verdict from Newry’s Gareth O’Neill. Rogan’s team mate Jody Wright rounded out the podium.

The A1-A2-A3 race was a handicapped event. The A3 limit riders were given three minutes on the A2s, with the A1s another one minute back.

The field split significantly even before the groups came together. And though there was plenty of attacking from the merged bunch, the decisive escape did not go until the penultimate lap.

And when it did, eight riders got clear and pulled out a gap of 1½ minutes. At the finish it was Rogan who led the way in taking victory.

In the A4 event, Ian McClure of Northern Dave Kane turned a recent run of great form into victory.

While Banbridge CC man Brian Hannon put in a lone escape bid, it ultimately came to nothing.

And in the bunch sprint McClure won from Luke Roberts of Shimna Wheelers and Liam Crichton of Velo Cafe Magasin.
