Having recently been selected to travel with the Irish U23 squad for a racing and training trip to Belgium next month, emerging rider Javan Nulty took the latest of his wins in 2013 in the Paddy Flanagan Cup in Kildare today, Sunday.
The DID Dunboyne man took his place in what proved to be the breakaway that would fight it out for victory and had too much in his legs for former triathlete Bryan McCrystal (Cuchulainn CC) who was one of the best county riders in last month's Rás.
Nulty and McCrystal were part of a winning move of six riders that also included Greg Swinand (Usher IRC), who appears to be coming around well for a tilt at regaining the national veterans' title next weekend, Aaron O'Donoghue (South Dublin CC), Tim O'Regan (DID Dunboyne) and Tony Brady (Franco Racing).
Nulty won at Rás Mhaigheo and the Cicli Sport GP in Co Tyrone on the same weekend back in March. In April he again enjoyed double wins, taking the Brendan Carroll Memorial and the Harry Reynolds Memorial in the same week; with today his fifth victory of the year.
In the A3 raced today, Carlow's Sean Treacy took the win from Fintan Ryan (NRPT-Standard Life), while the A4 win witnessing a Kilcullen 1-2, by Paul McKenna and Lukas Furman.
