Jake Gray of the NRPT-Magnet.ie team has taken victory on stage 2 of the Newry Three Day this afternoon and also moved into the race lead.

Having finished in 3rd place on last evening's opening stage - won by Phoenix CC's Cathal Smyth in a lone move 9 seconds ahead of the peloton - Gray made no mistake today.

Taking a leaf out of Smyth's book, Gray came home solo by 15 seconds from a group of 35 riders and now leads by 8 seconds from Smyth, whom he relieved of the yellow jersey.

And having led the way over the two categorised climbs of the day - Santas Cottage and Reed Hall - he also leads the climbers’ jersey.
