Videos: Irish U23 team in action at Tour de l'Avenir in France

The Irish team finish the TTT at Tour de l'Avenir. They have been on the attack and made their presence felt so far.

Ireland's U23 riders placed 13th in the TTT at the Tour de l'Avenir. They were 45 seconds down on stage winners Denmark.

The Danes claimed victory in the 20.2km test in Orléans by 13 seconds from Belgium.

Rounding out the podium was Norway, just three further seconds back in what was a relatively close-run race.

The result saw Aalrust Hakon of Norway take the yellow jersey from Alan Riou of France.

Both riders were in a three-man breakaway on stage two that gained over two minutes, with Riou now 2nd overall at 11 seconds.

Best of the Irish is Michael O’Loughlin who had placed 4th from the breakaway on stage 3.

He was 6th overall starting yesterday’s TTT. However, because of the time lost he is now 31st at 2:37.

After the top two overall the time gaps are relatively modest. And with high mountains to come the general standings are yet to take any lasting shape.

Mark Downey and Matt Teggart are next of the Irish team, in 39th and 40th on the same time; some 2:39 down.
