Having announced the week before last that no Irish team would be selected to travel to the World Cyclocross Championships Cycling Ireland is poised for a u-turn.
The Kilcullen Murphy Surveys team of national junior champion JB Murphy has publicly congratulated him on being selected for the Worlds in Luxembourg this weekend.

Stickybottle understands a statement will be made late today confirming his selection.

However, it was unclear if he would be the only rider on the Irish team.
Former junior champion David Conroy (Scott-Donnybrook Landscaping) rode the U23 Europeans in France late last year when Murphy and Craig McCarthy (McConvey Racing) rode the junior race.

At elite level Roger Aiken (Unattached) and Beth McCluskey (Team Jadan-Weldtite) have ridden very well this season and won their respective men’s and women’s national championships in recent weeks.
Stickybottle understands at least one other rider apart from Murphy has been offered a place at the Worlds.
However, at such short notice – with just days remaining now – it is unclear if anyone else offered a place decided to take up the offer of a place.
There was considerable criticism when it emerged in recent weeks no team was being sent.
Aiken had said he was waiting in hope that he may be picked and McCluskey, as well as Conroy and former elite and U23 champion David Montgomery, among others, all voiced their criticism.
