Ben Healy (EF Education-EasyPost) has taken his first win in Europe as a World Tour rider after proving best in the three-man finish of stage 3 at Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali (2.1) today.
On a very undulating course, Healy waited until the final climb of the race - an incline of just 500m - to make his move with 16km remaining on the 139.7km stage into Forlì.
By that point, the main field had been shredded after four laps of a tough circuit, with Healy breaking clear with his team mate, Mark Padun, and Domenico Pozzovivo of Israel-Premier Tech.
They held off the remains of the main field before Healy won the battle for victory at the finish on the outdoor velodrome in Forlì.
