Irish paracyclists finally get Worlds medals that went missing this year

The Irish paracyclists were presented with their Worlds medals at a ceremony in Dublin yesterday after the medals had been lost in transit earlier this year

The Irish paracycling team has been presented with the medals it won at the Paracycling Road World Championships in Canada in August after the silverware went missing in transit around the time of the championships.

The overdue medals were presented to the riders at the Sport Ireland Institute yesterday. The medals had gone missing in the lead up to the Worlds in August and so any riders who won gold, silver or bronze were given presentation medals, meaning the podium ceremonies could still go ahead at the time.

However, Irish riders Ronan Grimes, Katie-George Dunlevy, Eve McCrystal, Josephine Healion and Linda Kelly now all have the medals they should have been presented in Canada after a special presentation event in Dublin yesterday.

Grimes won bronze in the C4 TT at the Worlds in August before claiming gold in the road race. Multiple Paralympic champions Dunlevy and McCrystal soloed to gold in the women's tandem road race at the Worlds and also took a silver medal in the tandem TT. Healion and Kelly won bronze for Ireland in the same road race.
