After taking two medals - silver and bronze - in the TTs at the Paracycling World Road Championships in Canada, the Irish team claimed two world titles in the road races today.

Katie George Dunlevy and her pilot Eve McCrystal won their road race today - their sixth world title - while Josephine Healion and her pilot Linda Kelly claimed the bronze in the same event.

Dunlevy and McCrystal took a solo victory in the 81.9km race featuring nine tandems. They were 1:36 up on the Britain's Sophie Unwin and her pilot Jenny Holl. Healion and Kelly then beat the Polish duo in a two-bike sprint for bronze some 6:16 down on Dunlevy and McCrystal.

The Irish women came up trumps on the same afternoon that Ronan Grimes claimed his first world title; the European TT champion, and bronze medal winner in the TT at these Worlds, was best in the MC4 road race.

Grimes took the victory for Ireland in a sprint from a five-rider breakaway that had forged clear in the 17-rider event. Grimes had too much for his rivals at the finish, after 81.9km of racing, and won the gold - and iconic rainbow bands - from silver medal man Louis Clincke of Belgium, with George Peasgood of Great Britain taking the bronze.

In the Men's B road race - some 105.3km - Damien Vereker and his pilot Dillon Corkery were 8th in the 12-tandem race. It was won by the Netherlands from France and Poland.
