Marcus Christie has broken the Irish 25 mile TT record, subject to ratification, that has been held by David McCann since 2008.

Christie, a 30-year-old riding for Performance SBR, recorded a time of 46:30 to win the Ulster 25 Mile TT Championships today on the Woodgreen Circuit near Ballymena, Co Down.

That time - if ratified by Cycling Ireland, as all new records must be - would be a new Irish marker by a very significant 36 seconds. The current record was set back in August 2008 by former pro rider McCann when he did a time of 47:06.

Lindsay Watson (Powerhouse
Sport) took the silver medal in the
Ulster champs today, with a time of 49:05. Former Irish Everesting record holder Peter McLean (Ards Cycling Club) was 3rd in 49:27.
