Irish cyclocross set for packed day as huge number of titles to be fought for

The Irish cyclocross scene is set for a packed day of action next weekend when provincial titles, across all age groups, will be fought out on the same day.

The Ulster, Connacht, Munster and Leinster title races all take place next Sunday on what will be the second biggest day of action of the 2021-22 season after the National Cyclocross Championships.

At the Ulster Championships there will be 15 titles down for decision, from U14 and U16 to the junior ranks, elites and the three Masters categories. There will also be three team titles up for grabs; for the senior men and senior women and Masters 40 men.

The races take place in Whitesides Hill, Portadown. The Ulster championships promotion is being run by Velocity Road Club on the permanent cyclocross course on the private site.

The Leinster Cyclocross Championships will be held at McCrystals Cyclocross Track in Bellurgan, Co Louth; another permanent course on a private site, which has really grown in popularity this year.

Categories competing for championship medals include U12, U14, U16, junior male and female, senior men and Masters 40, 50 and 60 men as well as Masters women, senior women.

The Munster Cyclocross Championships are being hosted by Greenmount Cycling Academy at Limerick Racecourse, Patrickswell. The promotion doubles as 'Round 4' of the Munster Cyclocross League.

There will be championship racing for all three youth categories - U12, U14, U16 - as well as for male and female juniors. The senior men will also race for a title and Masters 40, 50 and 60 men will also compete for medals in each of the three categories. Women will race for two titles; a senior race and Masters race.

The Connacht provincial championships will be promoted by Gaeltacht CC at Colaiste Chonnacht, An Spidéal; also on Sunday.
