Irish international Cormac Mcgeough has added to his growing list of UCI-ranked race victories, this time at Vuelta Ciclista Internacional a Costa Rica.
The Canel's-Java rider was best at the end of today's 188km stage from Quepos to Golfito after getting clear in the breakaway and playing his cards right for his third victory of the year and his sixth in the last two seasons.
The 28-year-old, who represented Ireland at the UCI World Road Championships last season, came to the line today as part of a two-man move alongside Costa Rican Joseph Gerardo Ramirez (CMC-Prefabricados San Carlos).
Mcgeough took the sprint for the victory on today's stage 5, with the time gained by the duo moving Ramirez up from 9th to 2nd overall with five stages remaining in the UCI 2.2 race.
Mcgeough had already won a stage of Rás Tailteann this year as well as claiming a victory at last month's Vuelta Ciclistica Internacional a Guatemala. Last season he took wins in Vuelta Ciclistica Internacional a Guatemala, Vuelta Ciclista al Ecuador and Tour de Beauce.
More to come.
