Irish rider Emily Kay won the scratch race at the latest round of the UCI Champions Track League at the Lee Valley velodrome in London last night. The Irish track international attacked late in the race, opened a big gap and had the legs to drive it all the way to the line.

With three laps to go she had a lead of just over half the velodrome and it was clear, barring a major implosion, she had the victory in the bag; the Tokyo Olympian running out the winner ahead of a top quality international field, video below.

Behind her, the fight for 2nd place - and all-important points in the series - went to Katie Archibald, the Olympic champion in the madison. Anita Stenberg, from Norway, claimed 3rd while Olympic omnium champion Jennifer Valente, from the US, placed 4th and lost the endurance category series lead to Archibald.

Irish international Orla Walsh is also in action in the series. She is in 16th place overall in the 18-rider sprint series. The competition finishes this evening, with the fifth round, after the first four rounds took place in Mallorca, Berlin, St-Quentin and London.
