Jake Gray and Marc Heaney have once again shone in Belgium in the colours of NRPT-Magnet.ie, taking victory and 5th place in a junior event at the weekend.

National junior champion Gray took a solo win after being clear on his own for about 20km in the 84km event in Mesen, Belgium.

He crossed the line saluting the crowd in victory a significant 1:09 ahead of Belgian rider Arne Marit.

The runner-up led home a six man group comprised of three Belgians, two French riders and young Heaney, who took 5th place.

Gray had been in that group with Heaney but jumped clear and rode solo to the finish.

The result follows the Irish riders taking a fantastic 1-2 on Belgian soil two weeks ago when Gray again finished solo to win.

On that occasion Heaney took a two-up sprint just behind for 2nd place.

Both riders are two of the most promising Ireland has in the junior ranks at present and hopefully their performances can lead to bigger and better things at home and abroad in the next couple of seasons.
