Ben Healy (EF Education-EasyPost) has not wasted any time taking his second win of the season, just 24 hours after finishing 3rd overall, and 3rd in the final TT, at Coppi a Bartali.
The 22-year-old Irish rider finished out on his own today after 199.8km of racing at GP Industria & Artigianato (1.Pro) in Italy. He was collecting his second win in Europe as a World Tour rider after winning stage 3 of Coppi e Bartali last Wednesday.
Today, Healy attacked from a small breakaway group on undulating terrain with just over 14km remaining. And once he had proven too strong for the others he was with, he settled down into a time trial effort, powering all the way to the finish line in Larciano.
He had plenty of time to celebrate his victory, finishing some 27 seconds clear of runner-up Amanuel Ghebreigzabhier (Trek-Segafredo), who also finished alone. And 47 seconds down on race winner Healy, Mark Stewart (Bolton Equities Black Spoke) won the sprint for 3rd place from a 13-rider group.
More to come.
